Ellenville Fire District Receives $55,000 in State Funding for New Firehouse
State Sen. Peter Oberacker secures member-item funding for new firehouse and emergency shelter facility
ELLENVILLE — State Sen. Peter Oberacker has secured $55,000 in New York State member-item funding for the Ellenville Fire District's new firehouse and emergency shelter facility.
Oberacker presented the District with a ceremonial check for $55,000 on Oct. 27, 2026. The funding is designated for the new firehouse project and will help offset eligible construction costs, subject to the state's grant-administration requirements.
District officials thanked Oberacker for supporting the volunteer department and for helping bring state dollars back to Ellenville for a project that will serve residents as both a firehouse and an emergency shelter.
The proposed new main firehouse at 203 S. Main St. would consolidate the department under one roof, replacing outdated, undersized leased facilities and providing modern apparatus bays, decontamination space, and separate clean areas for turnout gear.
